What's involved
If you’re looking for a unique way to see the sights of the historic city of York whilst hunting for clues and solving puzzles, then Treasure Hunt York have got just the experience for you!
Meet Captain Bess, she’s a pirate looking for new recruits and thinks you might have what it takes! You’ll be given maps, clues and directions to hunt across the city! Don’t worry if you get stuck, Bessy is there to give you helpful hints should you need them.
Starting at the fabulous Museum Gardens, you’ll then wind your way through the cobbled streets of the Shambles along to other brilliant spots as you hunt for treasure! Take in the sights of the Holy Trinity Church, the medieval Merchant Adventurers Hall and stroll through Dean’s Park! Your hunt will end in the trendy area of Fossgate - the perfect place to pick up a delicious treat and a coffee to reward yourself now you’ve found your treasure!
Your hunt will end with a score being given to you by Bess, but it’s not a competition, so take your time, have a laugh with your mates and - most importantly - have fun!
Important information
The game works a bit like a WhatsApp group, but on a web page instead. You don’t need to download anything and it doesn’t need any permissions.
Before you’re due to start, we’ll send you a link to the game. Open the link to join the game and share it with your team so they can join too.
Once you’re ready, Captain Bess will tell you what to do next.
Aim to finish before sunset—it's near impossible to find clues in the dark!
You can play in 2 parts—if it suits your plans, you can pause the game and come back after lunch or even the next day.
Please bring a smartphone with data and full battery, shoes appropriate for 2 miles for walking and waterproofs in case of bad weather.
