The Best Time to Visit Albufeira

There’s never a bad time to jet off for a hen do in Albufeira! International Festival of Sand Sculptures comes to nearby Pera (a 20-minute drive away) in June. Professional sand sculptors from all over the world head to it to create some truly jaw-dropping sand sculptures of places, scenes and celebs.

Al-Buhera Festival takes place every July on the square of Fisherman’s Beach and features concerts and dance performances as well as stalls selling food, drink and local, handmade products.

August is host to the Sardine Fesitval in nearby Olhos de Agua. If you’re not a fish fan, this probably isn’t for you but if you are, come on down to enjoy fresh sardines, wine and live music in a chilled-out atmosphere.

Portugal’s famous for its seafood and the first weekend of September sees the return of the Fisherman Festival (Festa do Pescador) where you’ll be able to taste loads of fresh fish and seafood as well as watch dance performances and live musicians.
