What Should I Wear to an Escape Room?

Wear something you feel comfortable in as most escape rooms last around an hour and include moving around. You might need to complete some physical challenges so make sure you’re dressed to get stuck in. If you’re unsure, you can always double check with the venue ahead of time and ask what is appropriate to wear. If you’re celebrating a birthday, hen party, stag do or other special occasion, you might want to wear fancy dress or come in themed clothes. Just make sure it’s nothing offensive that might put the room’s other customers off. Otherwise, just make sure you’re comfortable for the duration of the escape room so you can concentrate on the task at hand.

Escape rooms say on their website: ‘For our games at Angel, no high heels are allowed. The games feature physical obstacles so should not be played in high heels. We recommend casual wear for these games. There are no dress requirements for our London Bridge games. Escape London says: ‘Wear anything you find comfortable. We also recommend bringing sleepover attire in the chance of you not escaping. At least you’ll have a comfy change of clothes to last you the night!’

Are Escape Rooms Dark?

This completely depends on the escape room you go in. Some tend to turn the lights down low for dramatic effect throughout your time there. With some themed rooms, such as abandoned warehouses or the underground, the lights will be dimmed. If you’re feeling nervous, most venues would be willing to let you check out the escape room before you book, so you can scope out what the room looks like and how much space you have. The next game, Heist Plan, sees you in a gang of street racers ready to hit the five major banks in Manhattan, New York. The plan is to cover up the heist with a street race. However, a rival gang comes into your garage in the night, wrecks one of your cars and steals the other Now you have only one hour to fix your broken car and find the location of the other before the heist tonight. This game comes with a difficulty rating of five out of five! It's probably best if you don't pick this room if it's your first time in an escape room.
